About
Marina Resende is an artist and researcher living in Berlin. The gesture is the unit of her work: a poetic gesture at the precise site can cause the underlying causes to flare up. Poetic action is a shortcut around the exclusion of academic language; anyone can get in and question together the boundaries of planning, property and profit. Marina's public space interventions, installations, videos and seminars leverage the loss and gain of agency in our relationship towards technologies, the environment, and social institutions in everyday life.
Marina has performed and shown her work internationally, with institutions such as the Chicago Architecture Biennial, Defibrillator (Chicago), Künstlerhaus Dortmund, and HAU (Berlin). Her work has been recognized with Mart Stam Preis and the ImagéSanté Festival prize (category Environment and Health) and the Community of Practice (Hellerau) and Re:Place Chicago residencies. She teaches at the Institute for Architecture at TU Berlin and in Public Art & New Artistic Strategies at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
